Despite its promising trajectory, the firm faced turbulence in 2022, given the aftershocks of COVID-19 on cancer screenings and regulatory hesitancy on specific ovarian cancer therapies.

Clovis, however, represents just a slice of his multi-faceted journey. Earlier in his career, between 2000 and 2008, he steered the ship for Pharmion, which eventually merged with the behemoth, Bristol Myers Squibb-acquired Celgene. Not stopping there, between 1992 and 1998, he played a pivotal role in shaping Nexstar Pharmaceuticals, guiding its course until its acquisition by Gilead Sciences. Dialing back to his early professional years, he showcased his financial acumen as an investment banker with Warburg Pincus from 1986 to 1992. Parallelly, he enriched his intellectual reservoir, clinching a Master's in International Affairs from Columbia University in 1986, hot on the heels of his undergraduate degree from Lewis and Clark College.
